We’re so excited to announce that a radio documentary on The Flying Seagull Project is now available on the BBC!
The documentary covers some background on our work over the last 15 years, and sets out why we believe play and laughter are such powerful and transformative things to share with a child experiencing hardship.
We truly believe that the work our teams of clowns do with children facing difficult situations – from refugees fleeing Ukraine or conflicts in the Middle East, to children experiencing food poverty or exclusion from education here in the UK – is life-changing.
But it can be difficult to explain this real, human impact in an environment so incomprehensibly harsh and alien as, say, a refugee camp.
So, as well as interviewing Ash, Wolfy and a number of our other Seagulls, the documentary team saw us at work in a school in London and in a refugee camp in Bulgaria.
And we think they’ve really done a good job of communicating what a Seagull show or session means to everyone involved, and demonstrating the extraordinary transformation that can take place when a child is allowed to freely express themself through play and joyful laughter.
