Laugh and Play india | 2016

Project Description

India has always been in our sights as despite massive economic changes the level of child poverty is still among the highest in the World.

In every city there are huge numbers of homeless and vulnerable children, sprawling slum communities, and children so far out of the system as to have almost disappeared entirely. With all of this to contend with it can be almost impossible for these children to have any sort of childhood development, and very little reason to smile.

This year we decided along with VITAL India we were going to do something about it. After 6 years working with the Seagull Project  Jolien Van Haaster took the reins in her first time as project leader. The mission was a tough one as the problems are so vast and the size of the country even more so. It was decided that we would focus on a select few locations and work more in depth in those areas.

So starting in Rajasthan the team made their way across through Utter Pradesh ending in Calcutta at the end of March. The project featured all of the Flying Seagull Project hits: magic, music, circus, clowning, playing, dancing and laughing.
